The Glitter Band
Goodbye My Love

At No.6, on “The Top 50 UK Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is The Glitter Band with Goodbye My Love.
Heading into a new year,..
…albeit with the band now just recently streamlined from six to a five-piece outfit, and determined to continue their success from the previous twelve months, The Glitter Band (named after the stand-alone hit performer which they’ve been officially backing for the past few years), are looking to equal, if not surpass Gary‘s own success; and step out from his glittering (pun intended obviously) shadow.
So far, each and every one of their own single releases has resulted in a Top 10 hit for the group; and now it looks like they can add this one to that prestigious tally.
The single…
…appeared in the UK singles chart on the 12th of January at No.47, and by the following week had shot up a staggering thirty-three places to No.14 and then broke into the Top 10 by the end of the month when it hit No.8.
The beginning of February saw it take another impressive leap and hit No.2, only being stopped in its tracks by a single which is still further up this chart, and is now having to settle at the No.2 position itself.
Last week this single slipped back a couple of places to No.4, and this week does the same again.
From here…
…the single drops 10 further places and out of the Top 10, and then snowballs out of winter, into March, and out of the chart altogether after the 15th of that month, saying goodbye with 9 consecutive weeks to drive away with.
