Hamilton Bohannon
South African Man

At No.29, on “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Hamilton Bohannon with South African Man.
The electrifying robustness,..
…which emanates from the hypnotic rhythms gifted by this artist is making its mark in this first single to successfully penetrate the UK charts.
In his native United States, Hamilton was no stranger to some of the biggest artists around, especially on the Motown label, where he had been employed as a leader and arranger of the touring backing band “Bohannon and The Motown Sound” during the sixties.
It’s only now in the last couple of years or so that he’s doing his own thing with his own ensemble , and with this track, an absolute funk masterclass of addictive proportions, he’s gaining more popularity here in the UK than he is back at home.
The single…
…had been a new entry last week, when it had landed at No.35, on the 9th of February, before its rise of six places this week.
From here,..
…the single will keep heading up, climbing a further six places next week, and then scaling one more to hit a peak position of No.22 at the beginning of March; a position it will hang onto for a second consecutive week, before relenting back through the numbers during the rest of the month, finally departing after the 5th of April, with a tub-thumping total of 8 weeks of chart action trailing behind it.
