Arrows

My Last Night With You

At No.26, on “The Top 50 UK Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is the Arrows with My Last Night With You.

One of the new wave…

…of artists which have gradually been appearing over the past year, that all seem to be moving the British pop music scene forward from the Glam Rock era which, at this point, seems to have almost come to its natural end, with this group as a fine case in point.

This transatlantic trio…

…consisting of the two US artists, namely New Yorkers Alan (when he’s not giving it his best Mick Jagger moves – see footage below) and Jake; and UK representative, and Preston‘s very own, Paul Varley, are accumulating their own fresh new fanbase in direct competition with other contemporaries breaking through at this time.

This is the point…

…where I feel Mickie Most‘s RAK label really seems to be coming into its own. Granted, it has had its fair share of success going way back before I was even born, had ridden the wave of that Glam era tremendously effectively, but seemed to be now navigating the seas of this new bunch of acts exceptionally well, although Mickie’s nose for a successful hit with this group doesn’t always sniff out as effectively as it could. More of which I will explain, and reference back to this group, in a future post.

Nevertheless, the blend of these three guys gives a welcome boost of talent for those followers of the pop scene looking for something different to latch onto, going into a new uncharted mid-seventies territory.

The single…

…had begun its chart journey on the 26th of January, landing at No.45, where it then climbed to No.34, before reaching the Top 30 in its third week, last week; and this week it climbs a further 4 places to this position.

From here…

…the single will move up one more notch to reach No.25, and this will end up being its peak position, before a gradual descent takes it back out of the Top 50 after the 15th of March, with a clutch of 7 weeks to show for it.
