Donny & Marie Osmond
Morning Side Of The Mountain

At No.25, on “The Top 50 UK Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Donny & Marie Osmond with Morning Side Of The Mountain.
A new phase…
…of the Osmond legacy begins, with the release of this first collaboration between this couple of the younger generation of siblings.
With the older brothers now on the cusp of moving into more adult and responsible circles, including marriage and more in depth activities regarding their faith, the focus is now centring on the most successful solo artist of the family group and his younger sister.
With both now having had success in their own right, reviving old forgotten favourite songs by other artists for a new generation, the idea of carrying on that tradition in a collaborative setup, starting with this 23-year-old Tommy Edwards hit from 1951, seems to be the next natural step in the ever-evolving Osmond family adventure.
The single…
…had had a quiet start in the UK Top 50, when it snuck in at No.49 last year on the 8th of December, and had then moved up only one further place the following week, where it then stayed for the next fortnight during the Christmas period.
It was only when we transition into this new year of 1975 that it finally scales up, first entering the Top 40, and then breaking into the Top 30 at No.26, after which it jumps another eleven places to land inside the Top 20 at No.15, before breaking the Top 10 and hitting No.7, and then reaching even higher by taking another couple of positions to reach the Top 5; a peak which it achieves to complete the winter month of January.
Moving into this month of February, it slips back, first one place to No.6, and then last week another two positions to No.8, before a bigger drop sends it to this mid-chart placing this week.
From here…
…the single suffers another significant fall, to take it to No.37, before it leaves the Top 50 with 12 solid weeks, as the promise of spring arrives after the 1st of March.
