The Beatles

1962-1966

At No.46, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is The Beatles with 1962-1966.

The recent heightened renaissance…

…with the Fab Four continues. Not just in this very album chart (see the link to the previous entry near the end of this post), but also having this album revisit me for the second straight year in a row.

It seems that what the majority of the public felt, that most of the four guys’ individual efforts wasn’t a patch on what had come before; and as I mentioned in my post regarding the previous entry, the foursome all seemed to be relaxing around one another’s own individual spheres, after the turbulence which had left the whole idea of any hope of a reconciliation high and dry.

The feelings towards one another, the deep respect they all seemed to still have, and the hints that some members were teasing, and now beginning to say on record as it were, or were about to (I’m thinking of Bob Harris‘ interview with John, which he is about to record literally a few weeks away in New York, of March this very year), there really was a possibility that these four men could quite possibly gravitate towards each other again at some point in the future.

The result of it all was that it helped albums like this stay in the charts; and as long as the record buying public still saw images such as this front cover staring back at them on the shelves, it all helped keep the optimists happy and the hope of a reunion very much alive.

The album…

…had made a couple more week-long appearances late last year in 1974. The first of them turned up just over a week after its second lengthy run, when it snuck in again at No.48 on the 10th of November. The next blip came when it entered again on the last day of that month to take it into the first days of December.

It then came back right at the end of that month also, returning on the 29th, to take it through to this new year, where it managed to stick around until the first week into this month of February; and this very week it returns once again for its 5th re-entry.

From here…

…and mainly sticking with the lower numbers, it carries itself along until it leaves once more after the 15th of March, and then back it comes on the 29th of the month to take another couple of weeks before leaving after the 5th of April.

Travelling on into the summer, the album resurfaces on the 13th of July and (thanks to the chart extending around this time) manages to stay for most of the summer holidays, even reaching as high as the Top 30, before it’s off again after the 23rd of August.

After that, there is just one more week where it makes an appearance this year; and that is just a few weeks away on the 7th of September, staying for one week.

Adding all that lot up to the total since I last left it, I make the tally now at 99 weeks since it first entered the chart; and it will be no surprise to learn that the double LP will easily tip over a tonne and continue onwards, meeting up with me once again during another of my birthday weeks in the future.
