Mac And Katie Kissoon

Sugar Candy Kisses

At No.4, on “The Top 50 UK Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Mac And Katie Kissoon with Sugar Candy Kisses.

The sumptuous soul siblings,..

…are finally getting the recognition they deserve here in the UK with this single, after a couple of real chances over the last few years. Of those two attempts, one had not made the UK chart at all, and the other earlier song had been a frustrating near miss. Each of those past efforts are highly well known tunes from their respective eras with (unfortunately for this brother and sister duo) both songs eventually gifting big success to other artists in the pop world at their respective times. The earlier single getting better traction from Middle Of The Road, and the later piece is just about to hit big in the very near future for The Captain and Tennille.

Now though, with this latest single release, and after five years of trying, determined success has finally been achieved and justifiably so.

The single…

…had quietly crept into the UK chart at No.42 on the 12th of January, and then gained a bit of interest the following week, when it lifted itself twenty-one places to No.21.

As January gave way to this month of February, the single really began to sail upwards, reaching the Top 10, and with Valentine’s Day fast approaching, the inspiration and instinct for that signal sent it soaring up into the Top 3, which is where it rested up until last week, before stepping back a notch to this week’s position.

From here…

…the single will finish off the month with one final week in the Top 10 before it drops away; and eventually, with a nice round total of 10 weeks to show for it, kisses goodbye the chart altogether after the 22nd of March.
