Suzi Quatro
Your Mamma Won’t Like Me

At No.40, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Suzi Quatro with Your Mamma Won’t Like Me.
Suzi is back…
…since triumphantly topping the UK singles chart this time last year; and this year she’s gearing up to start a mammoth headlining world tour, which begins at the Apollo in Glasgow, literally three days after my 3rd birthday. From there, she will then jet off to her native USA, and with a few visits to Canada, tour extensively from March, all the way through to July.
After almost a month’s rest, she’s back on the road from mid-August for the European leg, beginning in Italy, then moving onwards to Denmark, Germany, and by mid-September, Finland.
From there, she flies off to Japan at the end of that month, which will carry her through to the closing of October, from where she will bid Sayōnara, and be off to Australia and New Zealand to close a tour which will, by then, have taken in 104 dates, finishing on the 8th of November at the Auckland Town Hall.
To accompany this huge task,..
…is the next album, Suzi’s third, which is due to drop here during the spring; and to give everyone a taste of what’s to come, we have here the title track from that forthcoming LP; and if this is anything to go by, she’s not holding back.
Since that second No.1, she’s sensed, as well as the Chinn/Chapman team, that the musical terrain is shifting, and so this new package is the beginning of a new chapter, and a new fresher sound for Suzi.
This new journey of discovery,..
…isn’t so much Rock ‘N’ Roll, as more Rock ‘N’ Soul.
The magnetic allure, with the advent of the Clavinet, which was highlighted so brilliantly by Stevie Wonder a few years back, has now become such a unit of formidable sonic style, that it gives the now much more self-assured Suzi the freedom to explore new avenues.
Whether or not her followers are as ready as she is for this change is yet to be seen. However, just like her imminent touring plans, she’s more energised than ever, and determined not to stay still.
The single…
…had landed into the Top 40 just a few weeks ago on the 2nd of February at No.36, and by week-2, had moved further up to hit No.31. However, this week-3 position shows she has fallen back to the edge of that tier.
From here,..
…this single will pull back a notch to get to No.39 next week, but the recovery is short lived, when it drops right back to the very edge of the Top 50, and then falls out altogether after the 8th of March, with 5 weeks packed in her suitcase.
