Stevie Wonder

Boogie On Reggae Woman

At No.37, on “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Stevie Wonder with Boogie On Reggae Woman.

The unrelenting Wonder…

…that is Stevie, shows no signs of easing with this infectious rhythmic pulse piece, which is sure to keep everyone’s platform clad toes hot during the cold winter weeks of this UK chart run.

This is the second single to drop from his latest album Fulfillingness’ First Finale, which had landed in the UK album chart the previous August, and this track promises warmer spring sunshine is almost back again for this new year of 1975.

Even though the funky hook doesn’t really have much to do with the reggae in the title, Stevie lets that lady protagonist boogie on while he does what he does best, and lays that vibe down in the way only he can.

The single…

…had landed in the UK singles chart on the 5th of January at No.40, and by the second week had risen into the Top 30 at No.24.

As that dark month progressed, so the single crept up a couple more places to No.22, and then really started to heat up when it leapt ten places to hit a peak position of No.12.

The beginning of February saw it slip a little to No.15, and then slide a little further back to No.19, before it drops right down to this position this week.

From here…

…it will fall just outside of the Top 40 next week to sit at No.41, but that will be its final week; and it’ll leave on that first spring month of March, boogieing off with a total of 8 weeks in its thawed out wake.
