Peters & Lee

We Can Make It

At No.42, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, are Peters & Lee with We Can Make It.

With this popular duo’s…

…continuing popularity in the TV entertainment sphere, it’s no surprise to see their debut album appearing in the chart once again, while their latest release is also performing well.

This week witnesses…

…the second re-entry for their first album, which viewers of Opportunity Knocks will especially be familiar with most of the content of, as this LP brings together all the songs from every winning performance they scored from the show since last February in 1973, plus a few extra tracks to give something extra and fill the album satisfactorily.

The album…

…had first entered the chart in the summer of 1973, entering straight into the Top 10 at No.7 on the 24th of June, and by the 8th of July, had scaled up to the No.2 position, where it would sit solidly for over a month until, on the 12th of August, it got its chance to become the most popular album in the country and sat at the top of the chart at No.1 for two successive weeks, before going back to the No.2 position.

In fact, so popular were Lennie and Dianne at that point, that the album didn’t leave the Top 10 until the first week of October.

After a quick break from the Top 50 at the beginning of December, the album came back for it’s first re-entry in the middle of that month due to the Christmas market; and held steady all the way through to this January until it fell out of the chart again after the first week of this month of February.

This week’s second re-entry is only a brief one, with this appearance only lasting a week.

From here,..

…the album will disappear once again after the 23rd of this month, but will again re-enter for another substantial run, occupying the middle region of the chart, from the 10th of March until it dips out once again after the 27th of April.

A few more weeks will pass before it returns for re-entry number four, where it again sits comfortably mid-chart during the early summer, before it’s off again after the 6th of July.

As this year moves on, the appearances come as frequent but briefer; beginning with another standalone week in the middle of July, a two-week appearance as the year turns to August, and ends with one final four-week run which sees it through the rest of the summer and welcome the autumn, leaving for good after the 14th of September, where it will have tallied up a grand non-consecutive total of one whole year and three weeks of chart action for this debut.
