At No.9, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is Diana Ross with All Of My Life.
Diana’s solo stardom…
…was still skyrocketing into the stratosphere by the time this single was released.
Since her solo adventure started four years previously, and along with her own accomplished work, she’d had a hit album duetting with Marvin Gaye, and had also become an Oscar nominated actress due to her critically acclaimed portrayal of the complex, mystifying, hugely enigmatic, but ultimately tragic life of Billie Holliday in the hit film “Lady Sings The Blues“, for which she won a Golden Globe Award in the “Most Promising Newcomer – Female” Category.
This current song was the second track to be pulled from her current solo album, which had released the previous summer, before the duets abum with Marvin had even been released.
The single…
…crept into the UK Singles Chart at No.43 on the day before New Years Eve 1973, and by its second week, cracked into the Top 40, to rise to No.38.
Its third week witnessed a climb into the Top 20 at No.20, before continuing to scale higher as the song approached this month of February, from where it also sees its breakthrough, making it into the Top 10, and hitting its peak position of No.9; a place the single holds onto up to this week.
From here,..
…after spending three weeks at this peak, it will fall back into the low 20’s, falling further as the year turns to March, where it finally falls out after the last day of that month.
