Elton John
Daniel
At No.7, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Elton John with “Daniel”.
Elton’s latest,..
…and what will end up being one of his most memorable, as well as endearing hit singles, was enjoying one last week in the Top 10 after hitting its peak position last week when the song had glided up to No.4.
In fact, apart from it’s first week in the chart when it entered at No.38 on the 14th of January, this single had spent the rest of its time in the Top 10 so far.
Next week will be a different story.
“Daniel” will slip to No.11 before taking a huge drop back to No.30.
There will be a couple more weeks after that, where the single will circle round the Top 40, before the red tail lights fly off into the sunset after the 24th of March with 10 weeks in the bag.
The B side of the single…
…featured a remake of “Skyline Pigeon”. A track originally featured on Elton’s 1969 debut album “Empty Sky”. An album which made prominence of the harpsichord on several songs, including this track.
This remake of the song replaced the harpsichord with a piano version for this single.
