At No.6, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 1st Birthday, are Simon & Garfunkel with Simon And Garfunkel’s Greatest Hits.
With the duo’s last studio album still selling truck loads…
…since it was first released a couple of years before I was even born, there was now an album to showcase the best of the rest of their outstanding career.
Comprising of an assortment…
…of singles, live renditions and the odd album track, the selection first hit the U.K. Album Chart on the 16th of July the previous summer when it landed at No.4 and remained, every week for the rest of the year, near enough in the Top 10.
From this placement in February, as the album travels further into this year of 1973, it will drop a little, but practically stay inside the Top 20, only peaking outside of it when it reaches the end of the year.
Another long standing accomplishment already underway; this album, just like its predecessor, looks set to run and run.
So we’ll catch up with it in my future.
