Status Quo
Piledriver

At No.50, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, are Status Quo with Piledriver.
As promised,..
…when this album featured in the chart on my previous birthday, here we are a year on, but this time the visits are a bit more hit and miss; and for this week for my 2nd birthday it just about makes an appearance right at the edge of the Top 50.
Most probably the main reason…
…this album is still showing admirable sales over a year after first charting, is due to the change of direction they had taken back then, with one of the main factors being the chance to get into a studio which could basically take the decibels they required to get the sound they wanted, they inadvertently created a blueprint which, at this point, they are now trying to recapture the essence of, every time they plug themselves into an amp. So whenever anything new turns up (which we may witness further up this chart), anyone new turning themselves on to their sound from any subsequent albums, almost guaranteed a new sale of this one as well.
The album,..
…after I’d witnessed it leave the chart back in April last year in 1973, had never strayed too far away, jumping back in for a week in the middle of May, going again, then coming back at the end of that month to stick around until the end of June.
It would be back, at the beginning of the autumn from the 23rd of September, to accompany that season through until the 17th November, then return for a week to welcome the winter month of December, and finally, the last time the album had made an appearance had been just over a month ago, when it jumped in for another week on the 13th of January; and now it arrives once again.
From here,..
…the album will disappear again after this week; and that will be it for the rest of this year of 1974.
However, as luck would have it, the LP will return a little further along my musical road once more; so, for now it’s farewell, until we meet again.
