Focus
Moving Waves
At No.5, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Focus with “Moving Waves”.
With Focus’ third album only a few places behind it,..
…their second album, in some territories named “Focus II” was performing even better, with focus (sorry) mainly on their performance on “The Old Grey Whistle Test” and the “Hocus Pocus” single.
The album first appeared quietly at No.50 on the 5th of November the year before, but then gained 24 places up to No.26 before falling back to No.32 and then out of the chart near the end of the month.
It came back for one further week in early December, but that would be it for 1972.
The pace picked up more substantially as it got into 1973.
Entering at No.36 on the 14th of January, it then climbed up through the Top 20 until last week it broke into the Top 10 to sit at No.6.
This week it gains a further place.
Next week it will scale two more to sit at No.3, where it will stay for a couple of weeks, and then will climb one more place to get to its peak position of No.2 from the 11th of March.
The album will start to fall back a couple of weeks after this, but still holds a presence all the way through spring and, apart from a quick disappearance in June and August, most of the summer too.
After 34 non-consecutive weeks, the album will move out for good, after the 25th of August later this year.
