Focus
Moving Waves
At No.5, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 1st Birthday, are Focus with Moving Waves.
With Focus’ third album only a few places behind it,..
…their second album, in some territories named “Focus II” was performing even better, with focus (sorry) mainly on their performance on “The Old Grey Whistle Test” still sharp in viewer’s minds, and the “Hocus Pocus” single finally getting some well deserved attention.
The album first appeared quietly…
…at No.50 on the 5th of November the year before, but then gained 24 places up to No.26 before falling back to No.32 and then out of the chart near the end of the month.
It came back for one further week in early December, but that would be it for 1972.
The pace picked up more substantially as it got into 1973.
Entering at No.36 on the 14th of January, it then climbed up through the Top 20 until last week, when it broke into the Top 10 to sit at No.6.
This week it gains a further place, and next week it will scale two more to sit at No.3, where it will stay for a couple of weeks, and then climb one more place to get to its peak position of No.2 from the 11th of March, and hold that position for a couple of weeks.
The album will start to fall after this, but will hold a presence all the way through spring and, apart from a quick disappearance in June and August, most of the summer too.
Racking up 34 total weeks, the album will sail out for good, after the 25th of August later this year.
