At No.45, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is Chér with Dark Lady.
Chér returns to the UK Chart…
…after appearing a couple of years before; however, this time she is Sonny-less.
On this occasion,..
…there is a dark tale to be told; about a man, a woman, and a mysterious fortune teller, but which one is the dark lady…? (anyone out there reading this is absolutely welcome to let out an “ooooooh” at this point if they wish).
I am in fact writing this very post during the Halloween evening of the 31st of October 2025 – very spoooooky indeed.
This was Cher’s second solo single to chart over here in the UK. In the United States, this would become her third No.1.
Over here, it would be a somewhat quieter journey.
The single…
…had entered the UK Chart last week at No.49 before a slow rise to this position this week.
From here,..
…the climb to its peak position will halt when it gets to next week’s placing of No.36, after which (witch?), it flies off altogether at the beginning of March.
It will come back to haunt the Top 50 for one further week in the middle of that month, when it lands at the same position as this week; but after four short weeks of chart action, that would spell the end for this single.
