Donny Osmond
Why
At No.44, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Donny Osmond with “Why”.
Even though Donny…
…had been frequenting the U.K. Singles Chart with this solo effort since the 5th of November the previous year in 1972, he wasn’t finished just yet.
When he’s entered the chart with this single back then, it was at No.21 and by the 2nd week he’s landed well into the Top 10 at No.6 before climbing a further 3 places in 2 weeks to achieve his highest position of No.3.
He would end up staying…
…another 4 weeks in the Top 10 before slipping back further to where we find him, bobbing around the Top 40.
Even then though, he will stick around after this week, staying around the outer reaches until he’ll finally depart after the 24th of March 1973.
