Bubblerock

(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction

At No.42, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is Bubblerock with (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.

Jonathan King…

…was back again, since his impression on the UK Charts on the day I was born. This time he was hiding behind this alias of Bubblerock and having a stab at this Rolling Stones hit which, at this time, was less that 10 years old itself.

His Machiavellian theory…

…to release singles under aliases wasn’t new for him, as he’d discovered quite a while ago that radio stations wouldn’t play multiple songs in a show by the same artist. However, by promoting them under differing pseudonyms he could get several different singles played in a show, without the program-makers having a clue it was all just one person behind them all.

So he hit the radio stations with made-up acts such as Nemo, The Weathermen, or (in this present case) Bubblerock. His clever manipulative thinking paid off when he’d had hit singles from all of those, as well as others such as Terry Dactyl and the Dinosaurs, Shag, Hedgehogs Anonymous or The Piglets, which in each shape and form, ultimately sold bucket-loads of singles.

This rendition of the Stones’ classic,..

…which apparently got the thumbs-up from one Michael Philip Jagger, entered the UK chart one place higher than this current position, a month before on the 20th of January. From there, it clambered up to achieve its highest position the following week; into the Top 30 to reach No.29, where it would sit for two weeks.

It would then slip a position the following week before dropping back to this current placement, which will end up becoming its fifth and final week spent in the chart.
