Lindisfarne
Meet Me On The Corner
At No.36, on the the U.K. Top 50 Singles Chart the day I am born, is Lindisfarne with “Meet Me On The Corner”.
This single is a new entry this week…
…which will see Lindisfarne (named after the small island off the coast of the North East English County of Northumberland – although the band were formed 60 miles south, in Newcastle Upon Tyne), move steadily up the Chart.
Up until now, the group (who’d signed up to Tony Stratton-Smith’s Charisma label two years previously), had not been able to dent the U.K. charts with either of their first couple of singles, or their debut album from which they came from.
However,..
…from constant touring and playing at festivals throughout the previous year, they managed to create quite a following, with their cheerful, harmonious upbeat folk-rock tunes.
Now, in anticipation of their upcoming 2nd album release,..
…this lead single from it finally gives them the chart success they are looking for.
In a couple of weeks, as February gives way to March, the single will soar up to break into the Top Ten at No.10.
It will then climb further still for another couple of weeks, to eventually sit at its highest position at No.5, between the 19th and the 25th of March.
Looking further on, it will end up spending 5 weeks in the Top 10, before slipping further back down the chart.
In total, “Meet Me On The Corner’ will end up frequenting the U.K. Singles Chart for 11 satisfying weeks, finally departing after the 6th of May.
