Syd Lawrence And His Orchestra
Something Old, Something New
At No.34, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on the day I am born, is Syd Lawrence And His Orchestra with “Something Old, Something New”.
Syd’s Big Band sound,..
…a welcome visitor to many a popular British entertainment show back in the 1970’s, paid only a week long visit to the U.K. Album Top 50 on this date before disappearing for good.
As yet there is no source online to stream this album that I have found and most of the tracks on it are unavailable.
The tracks that I have managed to find go a small way in getting a taste of the album as a whole.
Side 1
Side 2
Hopefully one day soon this will change and there will be a chance to listen to this album as it was intended once again.
Until then, and as a bonus, I have instead included some footage which best describes Syd’s impact on the TV watching audience at that time.
Many thanks go to YouTube’s “Syd Lawrence” page for providing the chance to hear the tracks so that together we can experience a small selection of this album once again.
