At No.32, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is Ronnie Lane Accompanied by the Band “Slim Chance” with How Come?.
With Ronnie’s role…
…with the Faces now just a memory, the co-founder of both that group and its predecessor the Small Faces, was now striding out into new territory.
Setting up a more shape-shifting type group which welcomed contributions from any number of various talented musicians (including Benny Gallagher and Graham Lyle, who would later team up together for their own success later in the decade), Ronnie set off on his new journey with this new single.
The single…
…entered the chart at No.49 on the 6th of January and rose to break into the Top 20 a couple of weeks later. It kept on climbing until it eventually stalled at No.11 at the close of the month.
Dropping one place the following week, it would again climb up to No.11, making that position its peak before it drops dramatically this week.
From here,..
…it will drop a further 8 places and next week will end up being its last, just as February gives way to March, and the end of winter welcomes the spring.
