Gary Glitter
Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah!)

At No.3, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Gary Glitter with “Do You Wanna Touch Me? (Oh Yeah!)”.
Well, there was always going to be a possibility that this particular artist would show up.
It is 1973 after all, and to be honest, the guy was never far away from either the radio or the TV screen at this time of the decade.
This was Gary’s third big hit…
and it was still enjoying big sales a few weeks after hitting its peak.
The single had entered the chart the month before, on the14th of January at No.34, and by its second week had rocketed into the Top 10 to sit at No.5.
As January turned to February it crept all the way up to No.2 but was denied the top spot by the artist(s) that will still be sitting there this week.
Another week at No.2 played out before a slip of one place last week, and that’s where he’s stayed up to this week.
There will be another drop of three places to No.6 next week, as February turns to March. The single will then spend the rest of its time tumbling back before Gary’s platforms stomp out of the chart the same time that the month of March says goodbye.
