The Who

At No.26, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on the day I am born, is The Who with “Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy”.

Here we have a greatest hits collection from The Who,..

…with a title which sounds like it could have sprung from a “Carry-On” film, but was in fact more to do with the nicknames of the band members themselves,“Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy”.

The Who’s retrospective collection was on it’s 2nd week of it’s 2nd 8-week run in the UK album Chart when we meat it here (sorry, couldn’t help myself)..

It had first appeared on the 12th of December, just in time to get it in the shops for the big Christmas shopping frenzy of 1971.

It would eventually just about crack the Top Ten in the 2nd week of January 1972,  bouncing up to No.9 before leaving for a week after the first week of February.

Now it was back and would stick around until the first week in April before beating it for a couple of weeks and then returning one last time to see out the last week of April and welcome in the first week of May.

I’ve created my own separate playlists for both Sides 1 and 2 of this LP with (I hope) the correct versions and original track sequencing order for the U.K. release.

Side 1

The Who - Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy (Side 1 Label)
The Who – Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy (Side 1)

Side 2

The Who - Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy (Side 2 Label)
The Who – Meaty, Beaty, Big & Bouncy (Side 2)

Many thanks go to The Who’s official YouTube Channel (@thewho5803) for providing the chance to hear the majority of the tracks.

However, acknowledgement goes to Christine Anne (@christineanne1453) for the longer version of “Magic Bus”.

Combined, these tracks form the complete original LP so that together we can experience both sides of this album release, as it was intended, once again.

Please show your support by visiting their channels.
