At No.14, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on the day I am born, is Rod Stewart with “Every Picture Tells A Story”.

Another former No.1 album in this chart countdown,..

…(later to become Sir) Rod’s first to hit the top, was still enjoying successful sales which were keeping him comfortably in the Top 20 as a solo artist.

The album had first hit the chart back in the middle of Summer 1971 and, after several weeks, would climb steadily up to claim the No.1 position on the 26th of September that year.

It would stay there for 4 weeks before slipping back a place to let John Lennon have a turn, then reclaiming the position for another couple of weeks.

He would initially accumulate a grand total of 45 consecutive weeks in that first run, encompassing this chart, and ends it at the end of May 1972.

Further into 1972, the album will resurface for 3 one-weekly appearances at the beginning of the months of June, July and August before it begins a further 21-week stretch which will start from mid-August and see it through to the first week of 1973.

Staying with 1973, it’s final year on the UK Album Chart, it will appear a further 5 times.

The first will be 4 weeks from the 14th of January to the 10th of February.

The 2nd will be 5 weeks, from the 25th of February to the last day of March.

The 3rd, 4th and last times will all be a week each, with entries on the 29th of July, then mid-August, and finally the beginning of September.
