At No.10, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, are the Love Unlimited Orchestra with Love’s Theme.
Having mentioned the orchestra’s orchestrator...
…a few positions ago on this chart, now comes their biggest single to shine through, without their usual trio of ladies to accompany them “Love Unlimited“.
Released, just as their creator…
…was contemplating venturing into the unknown with his own solo material, this sumptuous instrumental laid the foundation for Barry’s later chart conquests.
For me personally, it was probably this, and other music coming out of Philadelphia, which I really started to take on and carry into my emotional musical psyche at this early age. I just remember these types of strings, and that type of guitar-work, floating serenely out of the radios around me, through the air and into my ears, as I was quietly enjoying my days when at home. To me, this just oozes with rays of musical sunshine.
The single…
…had entered the UK Top 50 at No.34, just as January was turning into February, it would reach the Top 20, at No.20, the following week.
Creeping up only one position last week, by this week it rockets up and claims this Top 10 position; the highest peak it will achieve during this run.
From here,..
…it will drop back out of the higher echelons of the chart, but only slightly, and will then take another three weeks, travelling back through the Top 20, before slipping further back as the close of March approaches, eventually taking it’s leave, and by then having accumulated a solid total of 10 weeks, after the 6th of April.
