Glen Campbell
Glen Campbell’s Greatest Hits

At No.19, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is Glen Campbell with Glen Campbell’s Greatest Hits.
Glen’s prominence…
…with an ever-growing UK following at this time, is reflecting well for this album, since I’d last chanced upon it during my birthday week last year in 1973.
Back then at that point,..
…when I’d managed to snag him during one of his standalone week visits, he was getting ready to begin his first purposeful tour of the UK and Ireland (co-headlining with Anne Murray) later that year, while also taking on Europe dates. All this would coincide with a BBC TV special, with the promise of more appearances in the future.
Of course, this boosted sales of this album throughout that time since I’d left it back then.
The album…
…had taken some time off during the springtime last year, but reappeared at the beginning of July for an 8-week stay, which would carry it through to the penultimate week of August. It would then re-enter for a 2-week visit at the beginning of September, before taking another couple of weeks off, and then start another 3-week run commencing the last week of that month.
Another couple of standalone weeks would follow; the first at the end of October, the second at the beginning of December; and that would be it for the rest of 1973.
This week is this album’s first appearance in this new year of 1974, and again, it lands straight within the Top 20.
From here,..
…it drops back five places next week, then five more the week after, before it takes its leave once again after the 9th of March.
However, the attachment that Glen has made so far with the UK means that, once again, this album will make a further appearance in the future; and so, just as before, we’ll catch up with this album’s continuing story further along my musical road.
