Diana Ross

Touch Me In The Morning

At No.10, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is Diana Ross with Touch Me In The Morning.

A positively loved up Diana…

…begins the Top 10 run-down in this week of my second birthday; and if the words and music of love aren’t attentive to her first husband Robert, then they are fully absorbed in her love of her two infant children Rhonda and Tracee, and the dynamics of family life and domesticity away from the spotlight.

This is Diana, looking, sounding, and feeling stronger, and more content than she’s ever been; settled, peaceful, and unequivocally happy. Confident, self-assured and optimistic, she is now beginning to also take personal control of the production side of things by this point with this, her fourth solo album.

The feeling gives off the aura of being so laid back and relaxing, that it’s like it’s finding difficulty to even roll out of its own soft bed on a warm and sunny Sunday morning. But it seems that when (or if) it does finally manage to pull away from the soft sheets, these sounds will be assuredly met with her safe, caring arms wrapping around them, as only a loving mother can. Gentle and warm, delicate and loving, all the way.

The album…

…had first appeared in the UK Chart as the warm rays of summer 1973 were just coming to a close, on the 26th of August, when it landed at No.12. The following week, it climbed up to its highest position that it’s managed to achieve so far of No.7, before eventually settling into the Top 20, then slipping back as autumn took hold, and falling out after the 24th of November.

After a week away, the album returned, and took up positions near the back of the chart quietly during most of December, leaving again just before the new year.

A quick week-long dip saw its first appearance in mid-January 1974, and the end of that month witnessed the album’s more substantial return climbing ever higher as romance began to blossom for Valentine’s day, reaching No.8 last week, before dropping a couple of places this week.

From here,..

…it will again settle back; this time mainly in the Top 30 positions, before it again falls away, this time after the 20th of April.

As the month of May approaches, so it returns for that month’s first couple of weeks; then it steps back again to the edge of the chart for its close.

The album’s last appearance would be a further week in the summer month of August, after the 17th, from where, after accumulating a worthy total of 35 weeks, it leaves for good.
