David Bowie
The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars

At No.15, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart”, the week of my 2nd Birthday, is David Bowie with The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars.
A revisitation…
…of this album since it appeared last year during my birthday week, when I completed my first year in the world.
Although by this point, David was showing small signs of becoming restless with this persona, the music public were making sure the character stayed relevant, to the point where this album was already nearing the cusp of becoming timeless.
There had been much going on with David during the past twelve months. His previous album was living up to its title and continued to be having much success, still appearing further back in this current chart. Since then, Ziggy had gone to America, and once back, had mercilessly self-destructed in front of thousands. Inbetween guises, David had then completed the Pin-Ups album, re-imagined one of his earlier compositions for Lulu, and then promptly morphed into Halloween Jack.
But even the self-sabotage…
…of his most iconic character did nothing for trying to deaden the public’s need to go back. If anything, it just made the noise louder. Although David was about to jolt into another image, more unexpected than anything attempted in his recent past, it seems this already embedded alien wasn’t going anywhere just yet.
The album,..
…after I’d previously left it, had taken a week out of the chart, before re-entering this atmosphere on the 16th of December last year in 1973, where it began to settle into the middle of the chart placings as the world turned to 1974.
It seems the release of David’s new single, also puts some good stuff into this album’s rocket fuel, as it goes from No.41 last week to fly up 26 places to this week’s position.
From here,..
…it will settle back to its usual behaviour, before it again leaves mid-March, having added another 13-week consecutive run, and completed a year and 34 weeks in the album chart overall.
The LP will once again return back into my orbit, when I celebrate another birthday along my musical road, but this time it will take a little longer, and take a more scenic route, before doing so. Nevertheless, we will eventually catch up with each other later on in my life.
