Dana
Please Tell Him That I Said Hello

At No.18, on “The Top 50 UK Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Dana with Please Tell Him That I Said Hello.
It’s a welcome return…
…for this 23-year-old Irish-raised songstress who has been away from the UK Charts for a few years.
Personally for me, with that pure gentle beauty and kind heart she emanates so effortlessly and gracefully, she always reminds me of my own Auntie Shirley, my Dad’s younger sister, who he has always affectionately nicknamed Titch.
Dana herself had been Ireland’s first ever winner of the Eurovision Song Contest when, for its fifteenth outing in 1970, and in that year being hosted by the Netherlands, she became the surprise winner at the tender age of 19, beating such artists as Julio Iglesias (representing Spain) and the UK’s Mary Hopkin; and although she’d had a couple of follow-ups which had reached into the charts immediately after, it had gone rather more quiet of late. In the meantime, she’d recently had the opportunity to host her very own chat show for the BBC entitled A Day With Dana.
Now, recording under a brand new record label, Dana needn’t worry if anyone remembers her as the singer who conquered Eurovision. They certainly did, and now she’s beginning to sparkle in the musical spotlight once again.
The Single…
…had entered the UK Chart around a month ago on the 19th of January at No.38, and initially only climbed one further place the following week. However, interest began to pick up as it moved into this month of February. First making it into the Top 30, and now this week managing to get inside the Top 20.
From here…
…it will again move just one more notch upwards to close out this month, but the beginning of March, and with it the promise of spring, will witness it rise slowly higher until it eventually breaks the Top 10 and settle at its best position of No.8 on the 9th.
The following week, as the clocks go forward to welcome British Summer Time, so the single begins its descent back down the numbers as the Easter Bank Holiday approaches, just as leisurely as it had climbed up before, and where it continues to gradually float gently back away like a feather, then after teetering on the very edge in its last fortnight, it eventually flies away after the 26th of April, with a notable tally of 14 weeks to carry with it.
