Betty Wright
Shoo-rah! Shoo-rah!

At No.31, on “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart”, the week of my 3rd Birthday, is Betty Wright with Shoo-rah! Shoo-rah!.
Betty’s first UK hit…
…which, I’m guessing, is proving to be another massive floor mover in the Northern Soul clubs especially.
Although, this highly talented songstress has only recently just turned 22-years of age, she has been singing her heart out for the last 20 of those, the latter half of those years as a professional solo recording artist.
The UK are also spoiled with this release as, for this single’s flip side, Betty will end up having a hit in the USA with this 1974 version (although I cannot find a version which runs to only 2 minutes and 24 seconds, hence the use of the 4 minute one), and an even bigger success with an extended live version of the same song in another four years.
The single…
…had first landed just under a month ago, on the 19th of January, at No.36, and had then climbed nine further places to reach No.27, from where it stayed for two weeks and which became its peak position as, just last week, it slipped back two places, before giving another couple away to reach this week’s position.
From here…
…it will, once again, hold a position going into next week before the single drops eleven more places to No.42, and then leaves the chart altogether after the 8th of March.
