At No.16, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is “25 Rockin’ & Rollin’ Greats”.
Another K-Tel compilation graces the U.K. Chart,..
…and yet another album of 1950’s and early 1960’s hit singles, packed into one LP, rather than stacked precariously onto your record spindle.
Thinking about this at the time of writing, at the end of 2023, these songs presented on this album from 1973 were from a past that was around 10 to 15 years previously. That would be the same now as the years 2008 – 2013.
It just shows how quickly music evolved in that short space of time.
Just like the previous compilation further down the chart, this one proved just as popular, and that in turn was again reflected in the chart.
Shooting straight to the top of the charts on the 26th of November the previous year, the album would spend 3 weeks at the top before relaxing a little and living in the Top 10 all the way through till the end of January this year.
It will start to slip back further, during February. In fact, this week would be its last in the Top 20, before falling further still.
It would eventually fall out near the end of March, before coming back for one final week at the beginning of April, in total amassing 18 weeks on the U.K. Album Chart.
I’ve created my own separate playlists for both Sides 1 and 2 of this album with (I hope) the correct versions and the original track sequencing order for the U.K. release.
