Rory Gallagher
Blueprint
At No.25, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Rory Gallagher with “Blueprint”.
Fresh from winning Melody Maker’s guitarist of the year for 1972,..
…Rory was back with his 3rd solo studio album.
Adding a keyboard player to his existing power trio line-up for this album would begin one of his most successful musical periods.
The boy from Ballyshannon used, as the cover art for this album, the actual electronic blueprint of his custom built Stramp “Power Baby” Amplifier which, according to Rory’s younger brother, and manager, Dónal, …was compact enough to fit into the small luggage compartment of a Volkswagen Beetle, one of the cars that Rory loved to drive.
The album itself…
…is a new entry this week, and will climb up to its highest position of No.12 next week.
From there, it will slip back in the Top 20 to No.16 and then, back again to No.20.
After completing a month in the chart, it will slip another place to No.21 before the momentum takes it further away.
After completing 7 weeks, it will fall out of the chart after the 7th of April.
I’ve created my own separate playlists for both Sides 1 and 2 of this album with (I hope) the correct versions and the original track sequencing order for the U.K. release.
