Strawbs
Bursting At The Seams
At No.28, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Albums Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is the Strawbs with “Bursting At The Seams”.
We come to the first New Entry into the U.K. Album Chart this week.
With founding member Tony Hooper now gone and Dave Lambert recruited in to open up a new chapter in the life of the band, it was now time to see if the new dynamic would be a hit.
If the lead single was anything to go by, then the outlook was a positive one, with “Part of The Union” just one position away from the top of the Singles Chart at No.2 in this same week. Now it was time to see how the album would do.
This week would see a solid entry, but next week will get it to the same position the single was in this week.
It will shoot up to No.2 and keep the position for a couple of weeks.
It will then slide down the Top 10 a little before falling out of there after the last day of March.
Slowly, the momentum snowballs back towards the further reaches of the chart before it finally falls away after the 12th of May. Leaving with a total of 12 weeks on the album chart to look back on.
I’ve created my own separate playlists for both Sides 1 and 2 of this album with (I hope) the correct versions and the original track sequencing order for the U.K. release.
