Alice Cooper

At No.14, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Alice Cooper with “Hello Hurray”.

And the controversies keep rolling on in,..

…with the sort of reputation befitting the five outlandish members of the group, meant success for another act once again, this time for Alice Cooper.

This time the fuss wasn’t about the single, but with the band themselves from the previous year in 1972. And this time it wasn’t much to do with the B.B.C., but more so from outcries emanating from the echelons of the British Parliament no less, who had been trying (unsuccessfully i’d like to add) to get the band…well… banned, from performing in the U.K.

With all that still fresh in the minds of the record buying British public, the group released this single.

Alice Cooper,..

…with Vince now having officially changed his name by this point to his stage name, were cheering “Hello Hurray” when this single entered on the 4th of February at No.44 and shot up the charts to land into the Top 20, at No.19, on it’s 2nd week.

In this featured week, which takes in my 1st Birthday, the single’s ascendancy is still going strong while it climbs a further 5 places.

The following week,..

…it gains momentum and leaps into the Top 10 at No.7 before climbing one place higher the week after to achieve it’s Hurray moment at its peak position at No.6.

Another Top 10 position awaits the week after that when it places at No.8, before it falls steadily back down the chart, eventually cheering goodbye after the 28th of April with a solid total of 12 weeks (and probably a few fuming Parliamentarians) behind them.
