Harold Melvin And The Bluenotes
If You Don’t Know Me By Now
At No.24, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Harold Melvin And The Bluenotes with “If You Don’t Know Me By Now”.
The Philly Soul magic sound…
…of this classic song from Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes was getting ready to bow out of the chart when we meet them here.
The single, originally written instead for Patti LaBelle’s trio LaBelle who turned it down, had entered the U.K. Chart on the 7th of January at No.30 and, after quietly climbing to No.23 the week after, leapt into the Top 10 at No.9 for its third week which became its highest position.
A second week at the same position followed, before slipping back out of the Top 10 to begin its roll back down the chart.
After todays position, it will fall back a further 10 places before spending its final week at No.47 and leave the chart after the 10th of March.
