Gladys Knight & The Pips
Help Me Make It Through The Night
At No.32, on the “The Top 50 U.K. Singles Chart” on my 1st Birthday, is Gladys Knight & The Pips with “Help Me Make It Through The Night”.
It’s 2 in a row for Tamla Motown…
…as Gladys Knight & The Pips are also nearing the end of their chart run with this Kris Kristofferson penned country classic.
It had been way back on the 19th of November the previous year of 1972 when their soulful version of the song entered the U.K. Chart at No.39.
Just like their Temptations Brothers…
…at the position below them, this single also needed only a couple of weeks to get into the Top 20, when it reached No.18 at the beginning of December.
From there, it bounced up and down in the Top 20 until mid January this year of 1973 when it reached its highest position, just outside the Top 10 at No.11.
The following week…
…after that would see it drop out of the Top 20 and hover around there for a few more weeks until we get to this week and see it leave the Top 30.
From here, they’ll spend a few more weeks getting ever closer to the outer reaches of the Top 50 before leaving altogether after the 17th of March, thus completing a very respectable 17 weeks on chart.
